Monique Kurki
Monique Kurki established her Brisbane Inner Eastside practice Viva BodyStrength in 2001. She is an AHPRA registered Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist, Pilates Instructor and accredited Osteoporosis Educator who has a particular interest in the management of osteoporosis.
Monique has:
- a Masters Degree in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. She has 40 years’ experience as a physiotherapist in private practice and public hospitals, and has taught both undergraduate and postgraduate students in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy.
- a Certificate IV in Pilates Instruction and has been teaching and enjoying the benefits of training in the Pilates Method for over 25 years.
Monique has a special interest in the management of Osteoporosis:
- Monique has conducted Osteoporosis Self-Management Courses for Healthy Bones Australia (formerly Osteoporosis Queensland).. She has researched and developed specific exercise programs emphasising bone loading, innovative balance training and muscle strengthening for osteoporosis.
- She has educated Master of Physiotherapy students at the University of Queensland and her physiotherapy peers in evidence-based practice for osteoporosis management.
Amelia Robinson
Amelia Robinson began her professional life as a lawyer then lived overseas and was kept very busy mothering 4 children. She changed career trajectory to become a certified Remedial Massage Therapist and Pilates Instructor. Amelia is a firm believer in the notion that ‘motion is lotion’ and that mindful movement is vital to live an active and purposeful life.
Having dealt with chronic pain and a couple of back surgeries, Amelia empathetically enjoys facilitating her clients to understand their capabilities and get joy and confidence from improved strength and balance.
Amelia has:
- a Diploma in Remedial Massage Therapy from AIAS
- a Comprehensive Pilates Certification from international teacher Carla Mullins and enjoys regular group Pilates training
SAMANTHA STARBUCK
Sam Starbuck is an accomplished Physiotherapist in the field of neurology, as well as having a strong focus on improving her clients’ musculoskeletal health through her work as a Pilates Instructor. She is dedicated to promoting exercise to optimise health and wellbeing.
Sam has:
- a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Physiotherapy. She has gained professional experience as a physiotherapist in public hospitals and private practice in Australia, Ireland and the UK, and has taught both undergraduate and post-graduate physiotherapy students in Neurology and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy.
- Post-Graduate Pilates Certification, with 20 years of teaching Pilates and also leading Group Exercise sessions for fitness, balance and falls prevention.
